‘Canes and Seawolves to meet in Saint John

November 9, 2018

The Holland Hurricanes men’s and women’s volleyball teams will be in Saint John, New Brunswick on Saturday to take on the UNBSJ Seawolves in ACAA regular season action.

The men’s ‘Canes are off to a 1-0 start this season after picking up a straight-sets victory over the Université de Sainte-Anne Dragons last weekend in Church Point, Nova Scotia.

The Seawolves are 0-1 after losing to the STU Tommies last Thursday in their home opener in Saint John.

For the Hurricanes, Brett Butler and Aaron Pugh led the way, each having seven kills in the ‘Canes victory last Sunday.

The men’s Hurricanes will play their home opener next Saturday, November 17 at 6:30pm at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement versus the Dragons.

The women’s Hurricanes have gotten off to a 3-1 start to their regular season; they are currently in a three-way tie for second place in the ACAA.

Their opponents on Saturday, the UNBSJ Seawolves, are 1-2 this season and sit in a tie for fifth in the ACAA.

This is the first time these two teams have met this season.

Brittany States and Abby Hyndman have had strong starts to the season for the ‘Canes, both sit in the top-10 in kills per set in the ACAA with 2.31 and 1.92 respectively.

First serve for the women’s game is set for 2pm on Saturday with the men to follow at 4pm.
